#Position Overview

As the Talent & Culture Generalist at Cabot Cape Breton, you will act as a hands-on, department-facing leader who actively supports and administers all areas of Talent & Culture across the organization. This role works closely with each department to deliver support specifically related to administrative and regulatory compliance functions of the Talent & Culture Department’s role within the organization. The position will provide general oversight and support to employee onboarding and offboarding processes, payroll and benefit administration, policy development, Occupational Health & Safety initiatives and statutory/regulatory compliance.

You will be responsible for evaluating workforce needs on an ongoing basis and for developing, administering, new processes and efficiencies to improve the functioning of the department and overall organization, serving as a key support to the Payroll Specialist and supporting ongoing projects and work throughout the Talent & Culture team as needed (Generalists, Managers, Directors, etc.).

Core Competencies:

  • Handle sensitive employee information with professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Support payroll processing as directed, including backup coverage during payroll cycles, peak periods, and absences.
  • Provide payroll support to other properties as required.
  • Maintain accurate employee records in compliance with employment legislation and organizational standards.
  • Support internal and external audits related to payroll, benefits, employment standards, and Talent & Culture documentation.
  • Support benefits administration, including tracking enrollments, eligibility changes, and responding to inquiries from our team members.
  • Monitor documentation completeness and follow up to ensure legal and internal compliance.
  • Generate routine reports related to headcount, payroll support metrics, and workforce data.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date hiring and onboarding trackers, including offers, pre-employment checks, and start-date progress.
  • Update regularly the hiring tracker for hiring managers in maintaining the tracker for recruitment and onboarding status to ensure clarity, accuracy, and timely follow-up of what stage the hire is in from offer through to green light to housing.
  • Serve as a point of contact for team members with day-to-day questions related to ADP access, paystubs, onboarding, benefits, and employment documentation.
  • Support basic employee relations inquiries and administrative matters, escalating complex or sensitive issues as appropriate.
  • Support pension plan (RRSP) administration, including enrollment tracking, eligibility changes, audits, and collaborate with payroll specialist in this area and communicate with our team members.
  • Provide backup support across Talent & Culture functions during peak periods, seasonal operations, or team member absences.
  • Support recruitment and onboarding administration as needed, including documentation tracking, scheduling, and system updates.
  • Contribute to Talent & Culture projects and operational priorities that support departmental success.
  • Collaborate closely with other members of our Talent & Culture team to ensure clear role alignment and seamless handoffs.

#Qualifications:

  • CHRP designation or HR Diploma preferred
  • Payroll Certification an asset.
  • Financial or accounting acumen
  • 3-5 years directly related experience
  • Proficient Microsoft Office, ADP, WFN, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
  • Highly responsible & reliable
