Overview of role:
WestJet is looking for an Intermediate Mobile Developer to join our Flutter-based mobile app team. Our app has over 2 million monthly active users and is used by nearly every WestJet traveler to book flights, manage trips, check-in, access boarding passes, track flight status, select seats, and use loyalty features.
You’ll work on a full Flutter app, collaborating with developers, QA, designers, and other Digital teams (APIs, analytics, security) to enhance features, improve reliability, and deliver high-quality solutions. This role is ideal for a developer who enjoys real technical challenges, taking ownership, and building production-ready mobile apps at scale.
Key deliverables include:

Develop and maintain Flutter-based mobile features across the app’s core functionality.

Solve challenging problems such as trip syncing and silent push notifications for reliable background updates.

Write clean, testable code, contributing to unit, widget, golden, and integration tests.

Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to maintain high standards.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable solutions.

Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and participate in release management using Azure DevOps (moving to GitHub).

Continuously improve the app’s performance, user experience, and accessibility.

Work on a Flutter-native app at scale with over 2 million monthly active users.

Tackle real technical challenges and evolve core app features.

Collaborate with a strong, supportive team and cross-functional partners.

Stay current with modern mobile technologies and best practices.
Experience & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience.
-
4–6 years of professional software development, including building production mobile applications.
-
Technical Stack:
- Flutter & Dart (primary stack)
- Native iOS (Swift/Objective-C) or Android (Kotlin/Java) experience is a plus
- REST & GraphQL integration
- CI/CD experience (Azure DevOps; moving to GitHub)
- State management: Provider (current), moving to Bloc/Cubit

Experience writing unit, integration, and widget tests.

Familiarity with Appium end-to-end automation is a plus.

Knowledge of Material Design and Human Interface Guidelines.

Familiarity with accessibility standards.

Comfortable working in a Scrum environment and contributing to cross-functional DevOps processes.

You are a self-motivated, proactive developer who takes ownership of your work and drives features from concept to release.

You enjoy debugging production issues, collaborating across teams, and contributing to high-quality, maintainable code.

You have a strong work ethic and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
