About the role

THE OPPORTUNITY

Western Forest Products is looking for a Senior Corporate Accountant to join our finance team based at our Head Office in Vancouver, BC.

What You’ll Do: As Senior Corporate Accountant, you are an integral member of the finance team that is responsible for the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including preparing and reviewing account reconciliations (such as PP&E and leases) and assisting with financial reporting and disclosures. You will also play a supporting role in treasury operations, including payment processing, and banking reporting. You will contribute to tax and compliance activities by assisting with indirect tax filings and supporting Canadian and U.S. tax processes, particularly during quarter-end and year-end periods. In addition, you will support forecasting and departmental reporting and work cross-functionally on ad hoc analyses and finance initiatives.

The role also provides exposure to investor relations activities. You will assist with the quarterly earnings process, including coordinating conference calls, supporting preparation of investor materials and transcripts based on public disclosures, gathering inputs for potential analyst Q&A, and participating in investor and analyst calls in support of disclosure compliance.

Success in this role means delivering accurate and timely work across multiple concurrent deadlines, effectively prioritizing responsibilities throughout the monthly cycle, and maintaining strong attention to detail across both operational and analytical tasks. You will build strong working relationships across finance and business teams and gradually take ownership of key processes. This role spans multiple areas of finance, and priorities may shift throughout the month, particularly during close and filing periods. It is scoped for a recently qualified CPA; however, for more experienced candidates, there is potential to take on additional responsibility across tax and financial reporting over time and as always, other duties as assigned.

Who You Are: You are a versatile and detail-oriented finance professional. You are a recently or soon to be qualified CPA looking to build a well-rounded foundation across core finance functions in a dynamic environment. You have strong Excel skills and possess the ability to think critically, communicate clearly and manage priorities.

  • Salary range of $80,000 - $100,000 based on skill level, qualifications, and experience

Work Environment: This role is based out of our Head Office in Downtown Vancouver.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • CPA designation or near completion of the CPA program;
  • 3–6 years of experience in accounting, audit, or corporate finance;
  • Exposure to tax, treasury, or related areas would be an asset;
  • Forest industry experience is considered an asset.

  • Knowledge of internal controls and their application;
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented;
  • Strong MS Office skills with advanced Excel; and
  • High level of integrity, adaptability and accountability.
