Garland Commercial Ranges is looking for an Environmental Health & Safety Representative III!
Under limited supervision, this incumbent is responsible for the development, introduction, implementation, maintenance, and championing of environmental, health and safety (EHS) policies, procedures and processes to ensure full compliance with federal, state and local regulatory requirements and corporate safety and environmental policies and programs (SMS/EMS). The selected candidate is also responsible for data collection, recordkeeping and the timely and accurate preparation and submission/posting of EHS reports and permit applications required by regulatory agencies or corporate programs and practices.
Reporting to the Director, Manufacturing, this position is 100% based in our Mississauga, Ontario facility. This is a full-time, permanent role that is a replacement to headcount.
Major Accountability:
- Coordinate with plant management to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local environmental, health and safety laws and regulations and corporate EHS requirements (SMS/EMS and specific policies).
- Development of site EHS plans, including budgetary requirements and coordination of plan implementation, monitoring plan status, updating related documents, communicating issues to site management and reporting plan status on a routine basis.
- Provide technical EHS support and direction for continuing operations, evaluation of new equipment and processes, contractor services, etc.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Conducts inspections and audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company EHS policies and procedures. Takes appropriate action when deficiencies are found and tracks corrective actions to completion. Implements actions to reduce risk and drive to zero incidents. Manages workers' compensation administration and the return to work program.
- Implements opportunities for employees to become involved in the safety program (e.g. teams, inspections, training). Provides training, coaching and communication to develop employee awareness, engagement and accountability.
- Plans, conducts and manages EHS training programs for all employees. Develops site-specific training materials as needed.
- Maintains accurate records/files to ensure all regulatory and organizational requirements and postings are met.
- Leads incident investigations (e.g. injury, property damage, near miss) to ensure root causes are identified, and effective corrective actions are taken. Ensures quality investigation reports are prepared & submitted. Follows up on assigned corrective actions.
- Ensures policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports, customers and stakeholders.
Qualifications

Specialized Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes and hazards.
- Knowledge of manufacturing safety standards, procedures, and documentation. 10-hour OSHA Certification preferred.
- Leadership, presentation and training skills; organizational and planning skills; good verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) for the job being performed.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Safety
- 4-7 years of experience required, or 8 years of experience in lieu of degree.

Working Conditions
- Heavy computer use.
- Typically, an office environment with frequent periods in a plant environment.
- Must be able to sit/stand on a shop floor for extended periods.
