The Revenue Client Services & Compliance Branch of the Ministry of Finance is responsible for the administration of a variety of provincial taxes, as well as revenue processing and several refund programs.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented and conscientious individual for the challenging position of Internal Support Representative. In this challenging environment, the successful candidate will be part of a team that supports the Client Services, Program Registration and Financial Services areas within the Revenue Client & Financial Services. The support includes assisting teams when workload pressures arise and problem-solving issues raised by these teams by finding innovative and efficient solutions. This position requires team members to frequently change focus and balance changing work priorities.

Reporting to the Manager, this position is responsible for:

  • Working with Government Relations to support Education Property Tax clients when filing monthly returns and summarizing data for the annual returns by identifying issues and proposing solutions to common problems identified.
  • Work on financial cases related to suspended documents, internal adjustments, refunds, general inquiries, deposits, etc.
  • Problem solve advanced issues by identifying and analyzing information, creating and proposing solutions that are new, reasonable and innovative
  • Maintain an accurate tax roll by issuing licenses, registering provincial and extra-provincial businesses operating in Saskatchewan, updating demographic information and inputting cancellation information on businesses no longer in operation.
  • License and provide general tax information to businesses, inter-jurisdictional truckers, SGI issuers and the public over the telephone or in written correspondence; and,
  • Other responsibilities will include the calculation of tax owing, the completion of tax return forms for taxpayers and working on projects as assigned.

You will have knowledge of:

  • Office procedures and various types of office equipment.

You will have demonstrated the ability to:

  • Accurately reference, interpret and appropriately apply acts, regulations, policies and guidelines to daily operations.
  • Verbally and in writing, clearly, accurately and courteously explain complex issues, policies, procedures, legislation and other information to clients and co-workers.
  • Accurately perform mathematical calculations in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and legislation.
  • Input, edit, update, retrieve, maintain, format and transmit data, create and generate queries, reports and documents utilizing word processing, databases, spreadsheets, communications and other software packages with speed and accuracy.
  • Independently organize and prioritize multiple tasks, taking into consideration changing priorities and deadlines;
  • calmly listen, assess, clarify and anticipate problems and respond with options and/or solutions to co-workers, stakeholders and tax clients who may be angry, confused, upset or uncooperative; and,
  • Work independently and as a team member in order to provide quality client service, meet the goals and expectations of the work unit and build positive work relationships.
