The Surrey School District invites applications from outstanding educational leaders for the position of Director of Instruction, Continuous Learning. The Director of Instruction is an integral member of the district education leadership team, which includes the superintendent, assistant superintendents, directors of instruction, and district principals. The team has overall responsibility for supporting success for all students and implementing our district vision – . The Director of Instruction, among a team of directors, is responsible for the co-leadership of educational programs and supports for students across the district. The Director takes a lead role in building system capacity to support student and adult learning and facilitate system change. This Director position leads a portfolio that includes Education Services, Summer Learning, Mental Health, Learning Centres, Adult Education, Safe Schools, and International Education.

Surrey Schools is the largest school district in BC and the second-largest employer in Surrey, providing quality education to over 86,000 students at 130 school sites and other learning facilities. Surrey Schools reside on the traditional, unceded, and shared territories of Coast Salish peoples: The q̓íc̓əy̓ - Katzie, the q̓ʷa:n̓ƛ̓ ən̓ - Kwantlen and the SEMYOME - Semiahmoo First Nations; the stewards of this land since time immemorial. Candidates for the Director of Instruction position will have demonstrated:

Applicants will have a Master’s degree and possess or be eligible for a British Columbia Teaching Certificate. The ideal candidate will have significant school leadership experience, and extensive experience successfully leading educational and systems change. Successful applicants will be required to consent to a criminal records check prior to employment.

The salary range for this position is $186,327 to $207,030. Placement in the salary range is determined by an assessment of qualifications and internal equity considerations.
