About the role
The Firm
Ironclad Trades Co. is not a labor brokerage. We are an institutional skilled trades firm providing multi-disciplinary execution across the Greater Edmonton Industrial Corridor. We operate on a single structural mandate: total accountability. Every technical discipline at Ironclad is directed by ticketed professionals who hold a performance-linked equity stake in the work. When our crews step onto a site, they are there to protect an investment, enforce safety, and deliver the technical scope on schedule.
The Role
We are mobilizing elite, execution-focused industrial electricians and instrumentation specialists for critical facility turnarounds, capital-intensive builds, and long-term embedded maintenance cycles. As a Red Seal Industrial Electrician & I&C Specialist, you will serve as the technical authority on the ground. You will bridge critical operational gaps, manage complex mechanical-electrical scopes, and ensure that all high-voltage and control systems perform flawlessly under the most demanding industrial conditions.
Execution Profile (Responsibilities)
Turnaround Execution: Lead critical path electrical and instrumentation activities during tight-window facility shutdowns, ensuring zero delays in safe remobilization. System Diagnostics: Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of PLCs, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), 4-20mA analog signal loops, and 24VDC control systems. High-Voltage Distribution: Maintain, test, and troubleshoot industrial electrical equipment, motors, generators, and complex power input systems (480V and 600V). Embedded Operations: Integrate seamlessly into client facilities as a technical embed, executing preventative maintenance and providing institutional-grade oversight of critical assets. Absolute Safety Compliance: Enforce Ironclad’s zero-compromise safety protocols, strict Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and full compliance with CSA Z462 workplace electrical safety standards.
Technical & Certification Requirements
Valid Red Seal Certification as an Industrial Electrician. Extensive proven experience in Instrumentation and Controls (Dual-Ticketed I&C Technician status is a distinct advantage). Demonstrated experience executing complex industrial facility turnarounds, shutdowns, or large-scale capital projects. Mastery of industrial automation, including Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Schneider PLC platforms, and HMI/SCADA systems. Deep understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and industrial arc flash/shock hazard mitigation. A firm commitment to craftsmanship, operational discipline, and site accountability.
The Ironclad Advantage
The crisis of accountability in the trades ends here. By joining Ironclad Trades Co., you are stepping out of the standard labor pool and into a firm that recognizes and rewards elite technical capability. Ownership in the Work: Access to a structural equity model that ties your financial upside directly to the performance and success of the assets you manage. Institutional Backing: Work under a unified banner that prioritizes strategic execution and superior workforce supply. Market Leadership: Position yourself at the forefront of the industrial sector in Alberta alongside other high-level, ticketed professionals.
