DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under the direction of the Skating Head Coach, provide instruction of the weekly skating program following the premade lesson plans.
  • Responsible for greeting participants, leading activities, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of participants.
  • To evaluate participants using a standardized assessment tool.
  • To maintain excellent customer service communication with instructors, parents and participants.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Conditions of Employment: Strong Skating ability and understanding of skating techniques
  • Experience working or volunteering with children and youth in a recreational setting (if applicable)
  • First Aid Certification.

Security Clearance Requirements: Applicants may be required to complete an employment security screening check.

Please note – Testing may be conducted as a component of the selection process to assess technical and job specific knowledge. Candidates, who are selected for testing, may be tested in a group setting, scheduled at the employer’s discretion.

WORK STATUS: Casual/Seasonal – October 2025 - March 2026

HOURS OF WORK: Casual. There may be opportunity for the successful candidates to work at multiple locations. Shifts are as follows.

Cole Harbour Place: Tuesdays 4:30-7:30PM & Wednesdays 4:00-7:00PM
Eastern Shore Community Center: Saturdays 1:00PM-2:00PM
Halifax Forum: Thursdays 6:30PM-9:30PM & Saturdays 11:AM - 4:00PM
Spryfield Lions Rink: Sunday 12:00PM-3:00PM
Sackville Sports Stadium: Sunday 2:00PM-5:00PM

SALARY: Non-Union, $18.70 per hour

WORK LOCATION: Cole Harbour Recreation Centre, Eastern Shore Community Centre, Halifax Forum, Spryfield Lions Rink, Sackville Sports Stadium. Applicants may work at one or multiple locations.
