Position Overview
The UNIQLO Store Management Internship offers hands-on experience for students passionate about retail, leadership, and making an impact in a fast-paced environment. Interns will work on the sales floor, support store operations, and develop leadership skills alongside our full-time team. This internship is a steppingstone toward a long-term career with UNIQLO. Top performers may join our UNIQLO Manager Candidate (UMC) Program—a full-time leadership development track designed to fast-track careers in store management.
What Interns Will Be Doing
- Collaborate on a project aimed at improving store operations or enhancing customer experience, culminating in a presentation to company leaders at the end of the internship. This project will be informed by insights gained from hands-on exposure to store management and Gemba learning, ensuring recommendations are practical and impactful.
- Serve as Manager on Duty during selected shifts, gaining hands-on leadership experience by overseeing store operations, guiding the team, and understanding how KPIs are achieved in real time. This is your opportunity to learn what it means to lead and manage a UNIQLO store.
- Engage with Gemba (the sales floor) to observe customer interactions and operational workflows. Rather than focusing solely on customer service tasks, you will analyze these experiences to identify opportunities for improvement and incorporate insights into your final project.
- Assist with key operational processes such as product merchandising and daily routines—not as an end goal, but as a foundation for understanding store management and decision-making.
- Gain behind-the-scenes insight into retail business strategy, including workforce planning, inventory control, and how operational excellence drives customer satisfaction and business results.
Desired Skills And Experience
- Currently enrolled in post-secondary studies (3rd & 4th year students highly preferred)
- Prior experience in retail is a strong asset
- Passion for retail, leadership, and business strategy.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
