Your ROLE IN OUr team
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the Automation Technician will be responsible for providing technical support and facilitate operation of SOPREMA’s automated systems. They will work closely with all technical team members to facilitate operation of the plant’s automation systems.
THE CHALLENGES WE HAVE FOR YOU
Working knowledge of Ontario electrical code Assist with day-to-day operation, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance of automation systems Assist with CI improvement initiatives Disassemble and reassemble PLCs or peripheral equipment to make repairs such as replacement of defective circuit boards, sensors, controllers, encoders, and servomotors Troubleshoot PLC systems, using knowledge of microprocessors, programmable controllers, electronics, circuit analysis, mechanics, sensor or feedback systems, hydraulics, or pneumatics Determine causes of operational problems or failures Install, program, or repair programmable controllers, VFD’s, sensors and other controls devices Maintain a Project/Activity Database Knowledge, experience, and troubleshooting with machine automation (design and programming) Other tasks as assigned THE SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR Your Education : Licensed 442A 0r 309A electrician, or Electrical Engineering/Technician degree/diploma.
Your Knowledge
Solid understanding of the technical fundamentals of programming of Allen Bradley PLCs and HMIs.
SCADA experience would be an asset
IT infrastructure experience would be an asset Understanding of electrical/electronic schematic diagrams, blueprints, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems Your Skills And Attitudes : Excellent computer skills; Proficient with Microsoft Office suite an asset Excellent communication (verbal & written) Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization clearly and effectively.
Able to work independently and in group efficiently to meet deadlines
Self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized Work Conditions : Exposure to seasonal temperature fluctuations Occasional exposure to dust and asphalt odors Required use of PPE (hearing protection, safety glasses, high vis shirts/vests, safety footwear) as well as fall protection and dust masks on occasion Regularly required to bend, twist, climb, stand, and occasionally lift weight of 50lbs
