We are currently seeking aCareer Development Coachto join ourStudents Services - Career Development team.
Job Overview
Reporting to Career Services Coordinator, this position is responsible for assisting students and alumni connect their academic learning to career paths and future goals. Utilizing leading and innovative practices, the role educates, supports and advises KPU students and alumni in the development of career and work search strategies to support successful transition into employment after graduation.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and three years’ related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Career Development Practitioner certification (or equivalent) plus minimum 3 years’ experience working in career development or career education, preferably in a post-secondary institution.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to quickly build rapport with others.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with, and provide exceptional customer service to, all internal and external stakeholders.
- Strength in oral and written communication, including the ability to present information clearly and concisely, as well as confidence with facilitating workshops and conducting presentations.
- Strong knowledge of career development theory and work search strategies and practices.
- Knowledge and understanding of current BC industry and labour market trends.
- Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of learning and innovation.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and inclusively to coordinate projects and initiatives among various stakeholders.
- Proven ability to exercise initiative while working independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to work on multiple campuses, with flexibility for occasional evening and weekend work.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is preferred.
As per the KPU-BCGEU Collective Agreement, qualified internal applicants within the BCGEU bargaining unit are given first consideration in filling this position. Internal applicants must apply by 11:59pm on the internal closing date in order to be considered as an internal applicant. Internal applications received after the closing date will be considered as an external applicant.
Salary Information
Salary and wage increments are in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
