This posting will be used to fill 1 permanent full-time positions working 75 hours bi-weekly.

It will establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar positions.

This job is based in the community of Old Crow in the beautiful Yukon.

Who we are

Community Nursing Branch is responsible for the delivery of primary and public health care through health centres situated across the Yukon. Community Nursing Branch operates 14 health centres across the territory, including 11 Community Health Centres in rural Yukon that deliver primary health care with registered nurses in an expanded scope, and 3 Community Health Centres that focus on community and public health programming.

Your role

Reporting to the Primary Health Care Nurse in Charge, this position provides program and administrative assistance to ensure effective and efficient support to programs, services and activities of Community Nursing as they are delivered at the community health centre; provides reception services; and performs other duties. The primary responsibility is providing this support to the health care team and the clients while maintaining the legal and ethical bounds of client confidentiality.

  • Experience providing client-centred services in a front facing public environment

  • Experience providing a broad range of administrative support in an office environment, including answering phones and directing calls, collaborating with other offices, services and supports, collecting and processing financial transactions, e.g., invoicing, arranging, and taking payments

Desired knowledge, skills and suitability

If selected for an interview, candidates should have, and may be assessed on, the following:

  • Cultural sensitivity and awareness
  • Understanding of effective client support and confidentiality
  • Computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Knowledge of electronic filing and/or patient management systems
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good understanding and use of computers and software
  • Ability to manage multiple demands in a busy work setting
  • Ability to work with clients and members of the public who may present to the health centre while experiencing heightened levels of physical, mental or emotional stress.
