Wesdome is a Canadian-focused gold producer with two high-grade underground assets, the Eagle River mine in Ontario and the Kiena mine in Québec. The Eagle River Mine site has a tight-knit team where everyone knows each other and there is a strong sense of camaraderie and mutual support. It is a hands-on, fast paced environment where work feels impactful and you can see the results of your contributions quickly. There are many long-tenured employees and a lot of site pride.
The mine is located a short drive from Wawa, deep in the forest where it is scenic and quiet. It is a real ‘boots on the ground’ setting. Team members reside in a camp environment and typically work on rotations, depending on the position. The camp offers excellent food, a sauna/gym, recreational room and the opportunity to stay connected with family and friends.

About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Eagle River Maintenance Planner or designate, the successful candidate will perform the maintenance and repairs of all surface, underground stationary equipment, long hole buggies, compressors rock breakers and pumps at the mine site. The candidate will be reliable and is expected to work well as a member of a team to ensure a safe and productive workplace.

You are a safety-focused and dependable Hoist Mechanic with strong experience maintaining and repairing surface and underground stationary equipment. You take pride in your ability to work both independently and as part of a team, ensuring work is completed efficiently and to a high standard. With a proactive approach and solid understanding of regulatory requirements, you consistently maintain a clean, hazard-free work environment while supporting safe and productive mining operations.
Position Responsibilities, Accountabilities and Job Duties
- Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and -Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants and all other Government standards and regulations.
- Keep work areas clean and free of safety hazards on a continuous basis.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently as part of a team
- Perform maintenance and repairs to stationary equipment on surface and underground in a safe and timely manner.
- Perform maintenance on Hoists, long hole buggies, compressors, rock breakers and pumps
- Follow Wesdome safety policies, procedures, practices and standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Provincial certification as a Millwright Mechanic with at least 5 years’ experience in underground mining
- Completion of Ontario common core modules is an asset
- Valid (G) Driver’s License.
- WHIMIS
- Hoist experience would be considered an asset
- Fall Arrest will be an asset
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine equipment maintenance
- Knowledgeable with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
- Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Good Communication skills and ability to work with others
- Able to effectively prioritize workload to ensure deadlines are met
Working Conditions / Schedule
Location: Eagle River Complex
Shift / Hours of Work: 12-hours
Schedule / Rotation: 7 days on, 7 days off
Type of Hire: Permanent, Full-Time
