Project Manager 1, Robotics & AI Integration

Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Resident
Annual salary: $ 107,000.00 - 135,300.00

You’ll lead technology integration across multiple robotics and AI workstreams — including SPOT quadruped robotics,
LiDAR scanning, autonomous inspections, and high-risk work mitigation applications. This is a high-visibility role that
blends innovation leadership, field operations experience, and program delivery to bring practical solutions to life.
What you'll do
- Lead technology integration initiatives across four key workstreams: Emergency Response, LiDAR scanning for asset
management & training, Routine autonomous inspections with AI, and High-risk work augmentation & catastrophic risk
avoidance.
- Manage the planning, development, pilot implementation, and scaling of new technologies, ensuring alignment with
safety, engineering, and operations priorities.
- Act as the primary liaison between Operations (field), Engineering, Safety, and external vendors to ensure solutions
are fit-for-purpose and field-ready.

Develop business cases, implementation strategies, and capital plans for technology deployments.

Coordinate testing, evaluation, and integration of payloads, communication systems, and AI components for robotic
platforms.
- Identify opportunities to improve worker safety, reduce manual inspection hours, and support regulatory compliance
using robotics and sensing technologies.

Support training and change management to ensure smooth adoption by field crews and engineering users.

Track progress, manage risks, and report project status to senior leadership through formal business planning and
reporting cycles.
What you bring
- A Degree (B.Eng or BSc) in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Mathematics,
Computer Science, Applied Technology, or a related discipline with at least one year industry experience working with
Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision models. Preference will be given to applicants with a Master’s Degree
(i.e.: M.Eng or MSc.).

A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in technology integration, capital project delivery, or utility operations.

Equivalent combinations of utility operations experience and technical expertise in robotics systems and coding will be
considered.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder technology projects, ideally within an operational utility,
engineering, or industrial environment.

Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and manage vendor relationships effectively.
-
Strong understanding of robotics platforms, including but not limited to: Boston Dynamics SPOT, Unitree Go2, and Unitree
G1 humanoid platform.
- Hands-on experience with coding, scripting, and configuring robotic systems (e.g., Python, ROS, SDK integration,
sensor payload configuration).

Familiarity with LiDAR scanning, digital twins, remote sensing, and AI-enabled inspection systems.

Working knowledge of utility operations, safety regulations (e.g., WorkSafeBC confined space entry, arc-flash safety), and
engineering support workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to translate emerging technology into practical field applications that support safety, reliability, and
operational efficiency.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across field operations, engineering, IT, and
external vendors.
- PMP or equivalent project management certification is considered an asset.

This is a full-time temporary position, for approximately 18 months, located at Horne Payne Office – Burnaby, BC.

Occasional travel to field sites across the province may be required.
