Reporting to the Director, System Performance, the Manager, Risk Management, Privacy & Compliance shall be responsible for the oversight of the operational and clinical risk portfolio within the organization. The role is responsible for the oversight of Risk Management & Compliance, ensuring they are integrated within operations to drive continuous improvement within the organization. The Manager, Risk Management & Compliance works in collaboration with other managers to promote the integration of risk and safety measures into the Education and Training Programs. They also collaborate and supports the personnel and leadership teams of the Operations Division and other departments.
Responsibilities Include
- Provide oversight of the quality and risk portfolio and supports its integration with operations and clinical services.
- Provide oversight of the quality and safety framework to promote continuous quality improvement of operations within the organization.
- Provide oversight, leadership and support for risk management initiatives that focus on preventing adverse events that impact patient and employee safety.
- Provide oversight, leadership and support in the development and management of a robust risk and safety reporting system.
- Report on and disseminates risk and safety activities to SMT.
- Responsible for the management of incidents related to the organization.
- Support the accreditation processes.
- Demonstrate leadership to effectively coach and provide support to other colleagues.
- Provide financial management, including budgeting and forecasting.
- Participate in business planning activities, as required.
- May lead special projects. May also support Medavie Health Services on projects as required.
- Participate in the development, implementation and review of quality, safety, risk management, and research related policies and procedures.
- Monitor and review the activities of industry/organizations that produce standards, guidelines and training opportunities specializing in the healthcare system.
- Support staff awareness of patient safety alerts, industry trends and the overall scope of patient safety for the organization.
Professional Qualifications & Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in health sciences or related field, or related experience would be an asset.
- Licensed or can gain licensure to work in Newfoundland and Labrador as a healthcare professional.
- Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role within a healthcare setting.
- Experience with database utilization and management experience with quality management, research and/or risk management an asset.
- Experience in project management considered an asset.
- Experience with safety management systems an asset.
- Experience in the operations of a high-performance ambulance and air medical transport system and/or in the home healthcare setting and understands the role and importance of a quality improvement program and continuing education within these systems.
- Willing to obtain the Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation as required.
- Exercises independent judgment and problem solving with discretion.
- Effective written, oral, and presentation skills.
- Aptitude for negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
- Ability to strategically align portfolio objectives with the organization’s vision, mission, and strategic objectives.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge and/or expertise in healthcare management, information technology, finance, and human resources.
