Job Title: Seasonal Groundside Labourer

Reports to: Manager, Airfield Services

Salary: $26.48 per hour

Term position starting October 20, 2025 - mid/late April 2026

Closing Date: October 1, 2025

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Airfield Services, the Seasonal Groundside Labourer helps ensure the safe movement of passengers by maintaining airport groundside surfaces and structures in accordance with airport operations policies, procedures, work instructions, and industry best practices.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform seasonal clean-up around the terminal building, pedestrian walkways, parking structures, and roadways
  • Fill sand barrels and spread sand or ice-control products as required
  • Empty garbage cans and FOD (foreign object debris) bins in terminal and parking areas
  • Wash and maintain equipment
  • Assist with pavement repairs, including cold/hot patching of asphalt or concrete surfaces
  • Remove snow from terminal areas, walkways, parking structures, and roadways
  • Operate hand tools and light-duty equipment such as shovels, push snow blowers, and push sweepers
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Selection Criteria include:

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license (Class 3 with Air Brake endorsement an asset) with a current clean driver’s abstract
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Airport Vehicle Operator Permit “D/A” (AVOP) and an Airport Restricted Area Identification Card
  • 1–2 years’ experience operating snow-removal, ice-control, or heavy-duty equipment considered an asset
  • Knowledge of airport operations and safety practices/procedures an asset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office, including the ability to prepare basic reports
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively
  • Excellent time-management skills with proven reliability and attendance
  • Physically able to perform manual labour (lifting/pushing up to 50 lbs, walking, shoveling snow or gravel)
  • Comfortable working in varied weather conditions (snow, wind, rain, extreme temperatures) and in a 24/7 shift environment
  • Knowledge of hand tools and light-duty or push equipment
