Your Opportunity:
Day Hospital is a short-term intensive clinical program that provides assessment, intervention, crisis management, and stabilization for clients 17 and up who are experiencing an acute mental health and/or addiction presentation that require intensive services to prevent a formal inpatient admission. Like an inpatient unit but with no beds, clients attend programming during the day and return home or to their community setting each evening. The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of addiction and mental health disorders with experience providing assessment and treatment for these complex needs. This candidate will be able to multitask and effectively manage multiple priorities and demands.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58/hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with Recovery Alberta /UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:
Diploma in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing, degree preferred, holding active registration with the associated professional college. Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention. Minimum of 5 years of relevant addiction and mental health experience, preferably in a community setting. Critical thinking skills, working knowledge on the assessment and management of concurrent disorders. Advanced knowledge and skill in the areas of evidenced-based assessment and treatment of mental illness and addiction is required. Advanced knowledge of comprehensive risk assessment and safety planning is required. Demonstrated ability to work well in a team and seek consultation when necessary. Ability to ambulate, climb stairs, and move quickly without limitations in a variety of environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to work well with a range of community and agency stakeholders as well as clients and families.
