About the role:
The Financial Controller’s team at Fairstone, as part of the Fairstone organization, is committed to supporting our broader business strategy. The successful candidate will work closely with the management team of Fairstone Financial on all financial reporting matters, adding value to the firm through strategic analysis, financial reporting, corporate governance and provide expertise and hands-on management of a broad spectrum of day-to-day financial reporting operations in support of the business. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced industry professional.
Position Responsibilities:

Preparation of the Quarterly and Annual Financial Statements.
-
Lead the monthly general ledger closing process to ensure accurate and timely financial results for management reviews.
-
Develop and maintain the Financial Statements process documentation to ensure compliance with internal controls and incorporate the best-in-class industry practices.
-
Work closely with the management team to develop and maintain a governance framework for review of the Financial Statements
-
Work closely with external auditors to ensure quarterly and annual audit is completed timely and effectively.
-
Analyze financial results, prepare variance analysis and ensure integrity and accuracy of the IFRS financial statements and related notes.
-
Lead the implementation of new, and adherence to, IFRS financial reporting requirements, including researching and providing guidance to business.

Lead the development, implementation, and enhancements of internal controls, and ensure adherence to corporate policies and directives for Financial Statements.

Develop the processes for automation of the Financial Statements using adaptive insights.

Manage and/or participate in ad hoc projects (enhancements, process improvement initiatives etc.), as required.
What we’re looking for:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
-
A professional accounting designation preferred.
-
Progressive relevant work experience (5 to 10 years) involving product accounting, working with external and internal auditors.
-
A minimum of 5 years’ experience at a large financial institution and experience working for a multinational corporation.

Financial analysis skills and experience.
-
Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
-
Strong knowledge of technical accounting (IFRS) and internal control principles.
-
Proficient in MS Office, specifically advanced skills in Excel.
-
Demonstrated leadership skills, with ability to influence and gain support for objectives.
-
Self-motivated individual capable of adapting to change, managing multiple tasks and continuously evaluating priorities to lead tasks/projects to completion.
