Who Are We? The Product Knowledge team is at the epicenter of eBay’s Tech-driven, Customer-centric overhaul. Our team is entrusted with creating and using eBay’s Product Knowledge - a vast Big Data system which is built up of listings, transactions, products, knowledge graphs, and more. Our team has a mix of highly proficient people from multiple fields such as Machine Learning, Data Science, Software Engineering, Operations, and Big Data Analytics. What You Will Accomplish We are looking for Applied Researchers to join us and help improve, automate, and scale our data-heavy processes. Our researchers tackle such diverse and challenging projects on Image Quality scoring; Automatic Taxonomy Improvement; Entity Resolution of rich, hierarchical Entities; and Conflict Resolution between different representations of the same Entity. Further, they help us design these separate projects and envision how they come together to create and power new experiences that surprise and delight our Customers. What You Will Bring
- Education: Ph.D. or M.S. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field with a focus on machine learning or data science.
- Experience: 0-1 years (with PhD) or 1-3 years (with MS)
- Experience: Experience in applied research or development of machine learning models, data analysis, preferably with the advertising industry or a closely related field, i.e. search, recommender system and NLP.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong programming skills in Python, Scala, or similar languages. Expertise in machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
- Analytical Skills: Outstanding ability to analyze large datasets, and derive actionable insights. Expertise in data mining and segmentation.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey sophisticated technical concepts to non-technical partners.
Additional Details The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:
C$118,000 - C$157,500
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including RRSP eligibility, various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
