Why is this role important?

The Forecasting and Promo Optimization team at Shoppers Drug Mart provides critical analytical support for flyer and promotional planning across the business. We partner closely with Category Managers and senior leadership to optimize promotional strategies, deliver value-added insights, and drive incremental sales and margin. Through continuous innovation and data-driven decision making, we help shape more customer-centric promotional programs and improve business performance.

This role offers the opportunity to influence high-impact merchandising decisions, collaborate directly with senior leaders, and apply advanced analytics to improve promotional effectiveness across one of Canada's leading retailers.

What You'll Do

Partner directly with Category Managers and Vice Presidents to optimize promotional tactics and provide actionable recommendations that maximize incremental sales and margin. Own the real-time, consolidated forecast for flyer sales and margin, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to stakeholders. Monitor promotional performance against forecast, investigate variances, identify emerging trends, and communicate actionable insights to the business. Analyze baseline sales and margin to estimate the incremental impact of promotional events across assigned categories. Conduct ad hoc analyses to evaluate promotional response, category elasticity, and emerging business opportunities. Develop clear, insightful presentations that communicate analytical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support promotional planning, identify opportunities for continuous improvement, and influence key business decisions.

What You Bring

Post-secondary education equivalent to a university degree in Business, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or Engineering. 1–3 years of work experience in an analytical setting (including retail, manufacturing, consulting, or banking). Strong analytical and technical skills (advanced Excel skills; experience in PowerBI/SQL/Access/VBA programming is preferred). Knowledge of forecasting techniques and processes. Ability to synthesize large volumes of data into meaningful insights and business recommendations. Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear, concise, and compelling manner. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead discussions, build relationships, and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams. Demonstrated business acumen and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities and solving problems. Strong skills in the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel and PowerPoint. Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work. Curiosity, intellectual agility, and a willingness to ask questions and challenge assumptions.

Why work at Shoppers Drug Mart?

Acting as consultants, supporting internal customers and the Associate-Owners, you will get experience unique to the retail industry while working for an award-winning national brand. Benefit from a purchase discount program, competitive pay and online learning through Academy.

Take ownership of your work and find more ways to care about your work, co-workers, customers and community.
