This role sits at the center of modern residential insurance claims handling, combining technical expertise, customer empathy, and advanced digital tools to deliver fast and fair outcomes for policyholders. You will manage moderate to highly complex property claims, including large-loss and fire-related cases, ensuring accurate assessment, coverage determination, and timely settlement. The position requires strong independent judgment while working within a highly streamlined, technology-enabled claims environment. You will play a key role in guiding customers through difficult moments, providing clarity, communication, and confidence throughout the claims lifecycle. This is a hands-on, desk-based adjusting role where precision, speed, and empathy are equally important. You will collaborate with contractors, legal representatives, and internal teams to ensure claims are resolved efficiently and in line with policy standards. Accountabilities: Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle residential property claims in accordance with internal guidelines and policy terms. Determine coverage, liability, and damages by reviewing policy wordings, applicable regulations, and claim documentation. Manage end-to-end claims files, ensuring accurate reserves, timely updates, and appropriate settlement decisions. Communicate consistently with customers, providing clear updates and empathetic support throughout the claims process. Prepare and validate estimates using tools such as Xactimate and contractor reports to determine fair settlement values. Handle complex claims including total loss fire events and other high-severity residential property losses. Collaborate with external contractors, legal counsel, and third-party adjusters when required to resolve claims effectively. Ensure compliance with claims procedures while maintaining efficiency and strong customer experience standards. Requirements: Minimum 5 years of full-cycle desk adjusting experience handling residential property claims (home, condo, tenant, landlord). Strong experience managing complex and large-loss claims, including fire and total loss situations. Proficiency with Xactimate and other industry-standard estimating tools. Solid understanding of residential construction principles and property damage assessment. Experience working with contractors, legal counsel, and third-party adjusters in claims resolution. Strong communication skills with the ability to deliver clear, empathetic customer interactions. Ability to work independently while managing multiple files in a fast-paced environment. Experience mentoring or supporting junior adjusters is an asset. Strong analytical and negotiation skills with sound independent judgment. Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to helping policyholders recover quickly and fairly.
