The Role
We are looking for a Technical Advisor to be a member of our Cloud Operations team. The Technical Advisor would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.
This position will be a member of our Cloud Operations team responsible for supporting NRC’s cloud infrastructure environments on Microsoft Azure. The incumbent is responsible for safeguarding the NRC's Cloud perimeter security by installing, configuring, and managing advanced firewall systems to prevent unauthorized access and cyber threats. This role involves continuous monitoring, auditing, and updating of firewall policies and protocols to ensure robust protection of the organization's network infrastructure

Education
A University degree or college diploma in a field related to the position, such as (but not limited to) Computer Science or Computer Engineering. A combination of work experience and certifications could also be considered.

Experience

Recent** significant* experience in installing, upgrading, auditing, and maintaining next-generation firewalls and network security systems in large-scale enterprise environments.

Recent** significant* experience in configuring and managing complex firewall rules, policies, and access controls to ensure optimal network protection in dynamic and high-risk settings.

Recent** significant* experience in performing regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and address potential risks in rapidly evolving cyber threat landscapes.

Significant* experience with network security protocols such as SSL/TLS, HTTPS, IPSec

Significant* experience of network security tools such as IDS/IDP, VPN, SSH, Wireshark, Nmap and Tcpdump

Expertise in troubleshooting and resolving network connectivity issues related to firewall configurations.

Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices, including threat detection and mitigation strategies.

Experience in developing and implementing firewall strategies to align with organizational security policies.

Familiarity with logging and monitoring tools to analyze firewall activity and generate security reports.

Experience in creating and updating technical documentation.

Experience working as a team and collaborating with members of other teams

Condition of Employment
Secret (II)
A thorough security clearance process will be applied. For a Secret Clearance, verification of background information over a period of 10 years is required. Individuals must have lived in Canada for a sufficient period of time to enable the security screening process.

Compensation
From $101,874 to $127,511 per annum.
