Position Summary

Temporary Full-Time Appendix D Support Staff, replacement contract position (Immediate need to December 24, 2025)

Reporting to the Manager, Community Career Centre, the Employment, Career & Customer Service Liaison is the primary point of contact for the Conestoga Community Career Centre (CCC) and Employment Ontario Integrated Employment Service Delivery within the Talent Hub.

This role supports a diverse client base, including students, alumni, employed individuals, and those seeking career advancement or change, by providing intake services, referrals, and employment-related support. The incumbent also liaises with employers, community partners, and internal stakeholders to facilitate job postings and promote available resources

Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. It is anticipated that this position will meet the department's needs through a hybrid work arrangement, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with four days on-site at the Community Career Centre, located at 332 Marsland Drive in Waterloo, and one day remote. Additional days on-site may be required to meet client needs.

Responsibilities

Client engagement

  • Welcome clients to the Career Centre and provide professional customer service
  • Respond to inquiries via email, phone and in-person; maintain accurate records
  • Coordinate and distribute monthly workshop calendars
  • Facilitate group workshops and orientation sessions
  • Maintain secure and timely prospective client data entry in case management systems
  • Follow up on referrals and inquiries to ensure client support
  • Monitor and improve the conversion rate of inquiry to registration
  • Schedule appointments and register clients for services and sessions with the Career Centre, Talent Hub, college or community
  • Assess client eligibility for services based on program guidelines
  • Provide on-site support and distribute weekly job opportunity listings
  • Coach clients on job search strategies, career planning and application processes through working sessions and group workshops
  • Assists registered clients with meeting their employment goals by reviewing, revising, and developing job search materials (i.e. resumes, cover letters, applications, social media networking, etc.)
  • Conduct client interviews, registrations, and needs assessments

Community engagement

  • Research and share relevant community resources and employment information
  • Participate in college and community recruitment events
  • Deliver presentations and information sessions to prospective clients
  • Stay informed about Conestoga programs, admissions requirements and related services
  • Promote the Community Career Centre services through outreach and marketing activities
  • Maintain agency databases and coordinate agency visits
  • Represent the Career Centre at community events and external meetings
  • Respond to employer inquiries and assist with job postings and referrals

Qualifications

  • A two-year diploma in communication, human services, social services, business, adult education, career development or a related field is required
  • Minimum three years of experience working in an educational setting within career advising, human resources, employment centres, or immigration settlement centres
  • A Life Skills Coach certificate, Career Development Practitioner diploma, or courses, is an asset
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills with the ability to actively listen with empathy to clients’ concerns and goals
  • Sensitivity and demonstrated competence in working with individuals in key priority groups, including people with disabilities, people on social assistance, racialized people, newcomers to Canada, youth with higher support needs and Indigenous people
  • Resourcefulness to quickly locate and provide information to clients
  • Adaptability to handle unexpected situations and develop and implement creative solutions
  • Highly organized with strong computer skills
  • Experience facilitating and delivering workshops is considered an asset
