Position Purpose: The Seasonal Guest Operations, Zoomobile Driver & Commentator is responsible for driving and interacting with the public. As a Zoomobile Driver & Commentator, our guests will appreciate your good nature, exceptional service standards and safe and efficient driving skills as you operate our Zoomobiles throughout the Zoo site. This position will assist and provide support in implementing the Strategic Plan.
Core Role Responsibilities:

Provide compelling, entertaining, and educational commentary on the Zoomobiles on a predetermined route around the Zoo site.

Safely drive Zoomobiles following all applicable traffic laws and Zoo policies.

Assist guests and off the Zoomobile vehicles.

Contribute to and create a unique, educational, and entertaining script in collaboration with other Zoo staff.

Follow all safety procedures and ensure guest and staff compliance with Zoomobile rules and procedures.

Be safety-minded, courteous, and able to demonstrate an appreciation for the importance of guest service.

Follows all policies and branch instructions.

Keep a clean work area and assist with cleaning Zoomobiles and Zoomobile stations.

Attends appropriate training as required.
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
- Outgoing and enthusiastic personality and attitude.
- Public speaking, theater, performing arts, educational and/or other related experience an asset.
- Strong customer service skills are an asset.
- Able to work well with others in a team environment.
- Must be available to work a total of 5 days per week in the Zoo’s peak season (May – September).
- Police Reference Check is required (upon offer of employment).
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, along with strong communications skills.
- Working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and WHMIS legislation an asset.
- An asset to possess an unrestricted Class G driver’s license valid in the Province of Ontario, along with a good driving record. (Full G License in good standing an asset.)
- Must be able to work weekends, shifts and holidays as scheduled.
- Must be able to deal with staff and public in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Capable of meeting the physical requirements of the position.
