Summary:

We are currently seeking to employ Program Coordinators- Recreation to assist with the delivery of our Summer Recreation Program. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for organizing program promotion, field trips, and special activities a few weeks prior to the camp starting. In addition, the program coordinator will facilitate daily programming, including psychoeducational activities, games, songs, crafts, swimming, and field trips. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for mentoring and coaching 4-5 site staff designated to their site. The program coordinator will delegate tasks and work with their team onsite at their designated camp location. The incumbent will actively participate in all activities and demonstrate positive role modelling for all youth involved.

**The program coordinator will be required to remain onsite at their designated camp location. Camp prep will take place on Fridays. **

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of staff to ensure high quality Summer Recreation Program

  • Plan and supervise field trips.

  • Maintain an orderly program and follow proper discipline and behaviour modification techniques as needed and as directed

  • Assist the community development coordinator with purchasing, ordering throughout the summer, maintain petty cash system, including log completion and submission.

  • Plan, organize, and implement positive, age appropriate, social, recreational, and educational daily activities

  • Delegate tasks to staff

  • Ensure all paperwork is completed in a detailed and timely manner, including incident report forms

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times, inclusive of completing daily inspections for hazards

  • Ensure all staff are performing daily cleaning duties at assigned site according to the Daily Site Checklist

  • Actively participate in all activities

  • Assist with special projects in the community

  • Consistently maintain a positive work environment for self, staff, volunteers, participants, and community members

  • Assist the Community Development Coordinator with developing and implementing orientation and training schedule.

  • Assist the Community Development Coordinator in completing final report; including budget completion and statistical information.

  • Maintain and develop new positive community partnerships that align with CHC mission and vision.

  • Monitor attendance of staff, campers and volunteers

  • Conduct employee evaluation and submit to Community Development Coordinator

  • Actively participate in weekly staff meetings

  • Problem solve and make quick, precise decisions.

  • Employ standard health practices, provide first aid as needed

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • First Aid/CPR are considered an asset
  • Enrolled in school
  • Max. Age is 29 years old (due to grant funding)
  • Prior work or volunteer experience in programs for children
  • Possession of a valid Class G Driver's License and access to a vehicle for work related purposes is required.

L****anguages:

  • English – additional languages are considered an asset

S****ecurity and Safety:

  • If 18 years of age or older, a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check must be completed prior to the first day of employment.
