Finance Services Lead

The Town of Golden is seeking an experienced and motivated Finance Services Lead to provide guidance for our financial services team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accountant ready to step into management, to gain broad municipal experience and develop the skills needed to advance into more senior leadership roles. For the right candidate, there is a clear pathway to advancement to Deputy Chief Financial Officer within 1–2 years.

THE ROLE:
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Finance Services Lead provides leadership in financial management, reporting, and analysis. This position oversees the Town’s daily financial operations, ensuring integrity, transparency, and compliance with legislative requirements and Public Sector Accounting Standards.
Key responsibilities include:

Supervising and mentoring a team of five finance and administrative staff to support seamless operations.

Leading the annual audit processes and liaising with external auditors.

Overseeing financial reporting, accounting functions, and office administration.

Recommending process improvements and contributing to policy development.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Chartered Professional Accountant Designation or planned enrolment in the CPA Program.

- A combination of relevant education and experience in Financial Services may be considered.

Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in finance.

Sound understanding of Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) standards.

Proficiency in using financial software and tools, as well as advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and team building skills.

Satisfactory completion of a Criminal Record Check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Strong problem-solving skills and experience implementing successful process enhancements.

Experience in local government finance
