POSITION SUMMARY
The Proofreader ensures that all materials, products and proofs are released with accurate content. This position inspects and proofreads all content (text, art, color, etc.) within the product to ensure the complete accuracy of material prior to release for next steps in the project lifecycle.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Proofreads, very carefully, all orders before release, ensuring components such as size, layout, text, graphics, spelling, etc. are correct based upon the customer specification. Checks spelling, grammar, syntax and linguistic rules. Follows technical requirements and standards, client and government standards guidelines. Checks for accuracy and consistency of all approved copy. Tracks, communicates and recommends necessary corrections to products. Provides clear and concise instructions to necessary team members regarding all proofreading changes required. Supports new systems and technologies and training to ensure optimum efficiency and performance of proofreading. Ensures proofreading is completed in a timely fashion and scheduled priorities are met. Assists in the development of proofreading standards. Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in English, Journalism or related field 3+ years of previous proofreading experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience Occasional travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required.
High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning) Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management
Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting Ability to work overtime as necessary
PHYSICAL ASPECTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; and talk, hear and see. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

The Ontario pay range for this position is $30 to $35 CAD hourly. Ultimately, in determining pay, we will consider the successful candidate's experience, skills, knowledge, and other job-related factors.
