Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Catering Cook to join our team in Ottawa, Canada. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals for catering events while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and consistency. You will work collaboratively with our catering team to deliver exceptional culinary experiences for our clients, managing multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications, ensuring consistency and quality across all catering events

  • Maintain strict adherence to food safety and sanitation protocols, including proper food handling, storage, and temperature control

  • Organize and manage kitchen workstations, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained and sanitized

  • Coordinate with the catering team to plan meal preparation timelines and meet event deadlines

  • Manage inventory of ingredients and supplies, monitoring stock levels and communicating needs to management

  • Accommodate dietary restrictions and special requests from clients, demonstrating flexibility and attention to detail

  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, fryers, and food processors

  • Assist in menu planning and food cost management to optimize efficiency and profitability

  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment throughout all shifts

  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during high-volume catering events

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a cook or in food preparation, preferably in a catering or high-volume kitchen environment

  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation practices

  • Proficiency in operating standard kitchen equipment and tools

  • Excellent time management and multitasking abilities

  • Ability to follow recipes precisely while maintaining consistency in food quality

  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks

  • Strong organizational and inventory management skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to take direction

  • Preferred: Experience with large-scale event catering

  • Preferred: Knowledge of diverse cuisines and dietary accommodations

  • Preferred: Experience with food cost analysis and budget management

  • Preferred: Certification in food safety or culinary training
