About the role

BCIT’s People, Culture, and Inclusiondepartment is seeking a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE**) Organizational Change and Transformation Manager**. This position manages the people change management throughout the Institution on transformational and organizational changes. Applies change management practices and guides the applicable areas on people impacts and how the organization will implement these changes. Works with the Institute’s senior leaders, acting as their organizational change subject matter expert advisor to ensure leaders understand their roles in managing organizational changes, transformation, people readiness, adoption and to reinforce change management practices and methods for successful implementation through well developed preparation and planning.

Duties & Responsibilities

KEYACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Participates as a member of the Organizational Development Team within People Culture and Inclusion, providing input into the Director’s department goals and plans relating to organizational change, development and readiness planning activities.

  • Leads the development of Change Management practices at BCIT, from creating standards of practice, approach, methodologies, engagement and adoption strategies and implementation to ensure a robust integration and transition that supports the Institute’s changes and people practices.

  • Develops the framework, processes and tools to enable Organizational change assessments, including conducting people and impact analysis, change readiness, sponsor engagement and change resistance and readiness.

  • Participates in preliminary and ongoing discussions with Senior Leadership on strategic workforce impact change plans and implementation strategies. Engages with them on all matters of change management and related impacts.

  • Works closely with the Departments and the Organizational Development team to enhance and strengthen change capability and resilience across BCIT.

  • Acts as the Institute’s strategic advisor and subject matter expert resource on organizational change and readiness plans. Reinforces and embeds change management practices and methods across the organization through coaching, training, communications and ongoing support

  • Influences and guides change champions, program sponsors and leadership on major organizational change initiatives to support bridging the people side of change.

  • Support managers and leaders through organizational changes on their teams. Develops preliminary plans including readiness assessments and risk mitigations with leaders to ensure all change impacts

  • are considered, are further implemented and adopted by all parties impacted thus connecting the people and Institute practices with the organizational change impacts.

  • Conducts organizational change impact and risk assessments. Works in partnership with all change partners to document and address impacts, identify contingencies and impacted parties; Builds out plans in cadence with interconnected changes or projects.

  • Develops change readiness plans, including identifying employee engagement tactics, working with partners on building training needs and roll-out plans, timing and communications. Gathers impacted and interconnected partnership feedback to mitigate issues and adjust plans as needed.

  • Supports leaders with ongoing organizational sustainment of the transformations; follows through to ensure initiatives are achieved and adopted.

  • Facilitates the transformation and change communication plans through collaboration with project leads and the leadership teams. Engages the Communications team and relevant partners to develop a robust delivery plan, produce and/or gather related communication speaking points, materials and presentations. Supports the development and delivery of sensitive transformation and change communications on behalf of the leadership teams, working to align it with broader Institute priorities.

  • Works with the Organizational Development team, departments and leaders to plan for training support needs or educational knowledge transfers as part of any change management initiatives.

  • Monitors, measures, evaluates and reports on change adoption and effectiveness of change management initiatives, identifying opportunities for improvement, risks/mitigation strategies and reports outcomes to leadership. Uses ongoing feedback to refine approach as needed.

  • Ensures hand-off of people activities and long-term adoption plans take place with clear future accountability to enable continued improvement and success. Conducts post-implementation reviews to ensure continuous improvement and learning.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS**:**

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field.

  • Certification in change management methodologies (e.g., CCMP, PROSCI, Kotter, Bridges and/or equivalent).

  • Minimum 7 years of progressive direct experience in change management and organizational development.

  • Experience leading multi-faceted change projects in a complex organization or public sector environment, including working with organizational changes in union settings.

  • Proven experience leading organization‑wide ERP change management initiatives, guiding stakeholders through process transformation and successful system adoption.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and summarize complex information and concepts to a variety of audiences, including for executive consumption.

  • Proven ability to influence and advise senior leaders, with excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Strong business acumen and experience presenting to senior leaders

  • Expert understanding of change management principles, methodologies, and tools.

  • Expert experience in developing and implementing people readiness plans and training programs.

  • Acute business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges.

  • Ability to see and apply the broader picture to support with short-term and long needs and ability to problem solve effectively using lessons learned and experience to address challenges.
