We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Manager, Mutual Funds Operations to oversee the daily settlements and reconciliation processes and ensure the integrity of our financial and operational controls. Our firm is undergoing an exciting transformation, and this role will play a critical part in driving that change. This individual will lead a team of 5-7 staff and ensure operationally reconciliations and settlements of trades are handled appropriately, with a focus on aligning our book of records with banks, depositories, and counterparties. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the evolution of our operations while maintaining the highest standards of control and accuracy.
Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead and manage a team of 5-7, providing guidance, training, and performance management.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Operational Reconciliation Oversight:
- Ensure assets within client accounts are both settled and reconciled daily.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies, as part of month-end, to promptly to minimize risk and ensure operational accuracy.
- Monitor and manage outstanding breaks daily, escalating issues when necessary.
- Monitoring trends and working with internal and external stakeholders to address the underlying root causes.
- Mitigate financial/reputational risk by ensuring appropriate structure, resources, procedures and controls are developed and maintained in compliance with regulatory requirements or company policies
Control Framework Management:
- Establish and maintain a sound control framework to support the settlement and reconciliation process and mitigate risk.
- Regularly review processes to identify and implement enhancements to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
Qualifications and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in reconciliations, financial operations, or a similar function within financial services.
- Proven leadership experience, with a track record of managing high-performing teams.
- Strong understanding of the mutual fund reconciliation processes and operational controls.
- Experience working with depository systems such as CDS & DTC would be an asset.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies and processes, including their application in business operations and decision-making.
- Experience with automation tools and techniques, with a focus on streamlining workflows and improving operational efficiency an asset.
- Proficient in data analytics, including data interpretation, visualization, and data-driven decision-making.
- Proven ability to identify, analyze, and implement process improvements using digital tools and innovative approaches.
- University/College degree in a related field
- Ability to prioritize effectively and work efficiently to meet daily deadlines.
- Previous experience in an operational leadership role
- Detailed-oriented, extremely self-motivated and dedicated, and a good team player.
