The successful candidate will work the early shift on weekdays, coordinating with the newsroom to chase guests on breaking news and developing stories before pivoting to chasing agenda-setting stories for the next morning.
As a member of a close-knit team, you will organize and contribute to the preparation, production and post-production work for our morning radio show. - Distil large amounts of complex information under tight time constraints.
- Gather audio and field produce as required.
- Contribute to the development of the program’s lineup, including selecting music as needed.
- Liaise with control room teams to ensure all technical aspects of the program can be properly prepared and coded.
- As necessary, assist in taking the show to air from the control room.
- Present stories on-air as required.
- Collaborate with colleagues across teams to plan features, coordinate coverage, and enhance visual storytelling across platforms, particularly digital and social media.
Your profile:
-
Ability to generate, pitch and pursue strong story ideas.

Strong proven connection to the communities we serve in the GTA.
-
Strong attention to detail.
-
Ability to chase and follow several stories at once, prioritizing and managing time.
-
Strong broadcast writing and audio editing skills.
-
Experience editing content for audio and video platforms.
-
Willingness to learn and tackle new tasks across all CBC platforms.
-
Ability to forge positive team relationships and keen to work on a team that values collaboration and transparency.
-
Strong desire to live and promote the values of diversity and an inclusive and respectful work culture.
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; a standout colleague.
-
Must possess a valid driver’s licence as well as a driving record that meets the minimum requirements of CBC/Radio-Canada's insurance company, other classes considered an asset.
-
Ability to work a variety of shifts including early starts, late finishes and weekends.
-
University degree or equivalent, with a minimum of two years of recent, related experience in a multiplatform newsroom.
This position requires all shifts to be done in the office.
Please include additional documentation or a link to your online demo or website, blog or video in your cover letter.
