About the role

The Environment Health and Safety Manager is responsible for contributing to the advancement of a growing culture of occupational health and safety and the environment within the organization. The latter acts as a resource person in terms of OHS and the environment. He or she plays an influential role with internal and external stakeholders. He or she will have to develop and implement training and prevention programs for employees and develop new procedures to ensure that they meet the legal requirements of the law and meet compliance in terms of OHS and the environment.

All the important tasks we'll trust you with:

  • Develop, review and implement OSH and environmental prevention action plans, procedures and policies, which will have a positive impact on the performance indicators (KPIs) in place
  • Support operations in the day-to-day application of the OHS program and in the implementation of their respective action plans
  • Ensure a regular presence in the plant to provide support to foremen and represent management to employees
  • Analyze risks, develop corrective measures and ensure their implementation and follow-up
  • Develop and maintain training programs for employees and are up to date
  • Develop and maintain statistical statements and performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Optimize and implement new prevention programs
  • Plan, organize and facilitate OHS meetings
  • Organize, lead and inform OHS committee members of the various statistics, OHS files and ensure that they communicate information to employees
  • Carry out the required interventions following a health, safety or environmental report
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments of workstations and make recommendations
  • Assess the inherent risks in the workplace

Your areas of strength and expertise that matter most for this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial relations and/or OHS certificate or any combination of education and experience
  • More than five years of relevant experience in manufacturing
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in developing and deploying OHS training
  • In-depth knowledge of OHS and environmental regulations, procedures and policy
  • Experience in a multi-site and unionized environment, an asset
  • Knowledge of the various provincial health and safety legislations
  • Knowledge of ergonomic principles
  • Leadership to strengthen the culture of OHS prevention
  • Strong interpersonal skills, adaptability and autonomy
  • Rigor, organizational skills and critical thinking
