The Durham District School Board acknowledges that many Indigenous Nations have longstanding relationships, both historic and modern, with the territories upon which our school board and schools are located. Today, this area is home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island. We acknowledge that the Durham Region forms a part of the traditional and treaty territory of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation, the Mississauga Peoples and the treaty territory of the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation. It is on these ancestral and treaty lands that we teach, live and learn.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build a welcoming, inclusive classroom that prioritizes relationships, student voice, and well-being
  • Design and deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned lessons grounded in UDL and culturally responsive, evidence-based practices
  • Implement targeted supports and differentiated instruction in Literacy and Mathematics
  • Use assessment for, as, and of learning to monitor progress and guide next steps
  • Communicate regularly with families to strengthen learning and well-being partnerships
  • Implement accommodations and modifications that support the success of students with special education needs.
  • Engage in reflective practice and ongoing professional learning
  • Collaborate with colleagues and community partners to enhance student engagement and success
  • Identify and dismantle barriers to equity, ensuring all students’ identities, humanity, and potential are affirmed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications And Additional Information

  • Ontario Teachers Certificate
  • Special Education, an asset
