POSITION SUMMARY

The Social Development Manager is responsible for the leadership, administration, and continuous improvement of LNIB’s Social Development programs and services. This role oversees program delivery, staff supervision, and community engagement initiatives that support the well-being of LNIB members.

The Manager ensures programs are delivered in alignment with LNIB values, community priorities, and funding requirements, while promoting culturally safe, trauma-informed, and client-centered approaches.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • PROGRAM LEADERSHIP & DELIVERY

o Oversee the delivery of Social Development programs including Social Assistance, Family Violence Prevention, Special Needs, Burial Support, and Family Activities

o Assess community needs and develop programs and services that support individuals and families

o Provide direct support and guidance in complex or sensitive client situations

o Collaborate with external partners including MCFD, ISC, FNHA, Scw’exmx Child & Family Services, and other agencies

  • PLANNING & STRATEGY

o Develop and implement annual and multi-year operational plans aligned with community priorities

o Monitor emerging trends, funding opportunities, and legislative changes impacting social services

o Support program innovation and continuous improvement

  • FINANCIAL & ADMINSTRATIVE OVERSIGHT

o Develop, manage, and monitor program budgets

o Ensure accurate reporting and compliance with ISC and other funding agencies

o Oversee preparation of reports, proposals, and funding applications

o Ensure data tracking and statistical reporting requirements are met

  • STAFF LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT

o Supervise, coach, and support Social Development staff

o Conduct performance evaluations and support employee development

o Foster a collaborative, accountable, and culturally safe team environment

o Support recruitment and retention in alignment with LNIB HR policies

  • COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & COMMUNICATIONS

o Promote awareness of available programs and services to LNIB members

o Support community outreach and engagement initiatives

o Contribute to internal and external communications (e.g., newsletters, updates)

  • COMPLIANCE & GOVERNANCE

o Ensure all programs operate in compliance with LNIB policies, funding agreements, and applicable legislation

o Maintain strict confidentiality and ethical standards

o Promote culturally appropriate and trauma-informed service delivery

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Knowledge of Indigenous social service delivery and community dynamics
  • Experience working with ISC and other funding bodies
  • Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and reporting abilities
  • Ability to manage sensitive and high-stress situations with professionalism

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree or diploma in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field (https://)
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in social services, including leadership experience
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Exposure to emotionally sensitive and high-stress situations
  • Occasional overtime and on-call responsibilities may be required
  • Some travel and fieldwork may be necessary
  • Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and urgent deadlines.
  • Extended periods of computer use, meetings, and seated work.
  • Must maintain a current and clear Criminal Record Check.
