Reporting Relationships:

The incumbent will work primarily with the Supervisor, Gift Shop along with the Manager, Volunteer Resources

Position Summary:

  • This position is ideal for a candidate looking for experience and a career in small business or finance. The successful candidate will strengthen their retail skills and experience (including sales of gifts, clothing and OLG) while learning all aspects of retail management including merchandising and sales.
  • The incumbent will conduct market research and create marketing resources to promote products available in the gift shop
  • The successful candidate will work closely with experienced staff, receive mentorship and skill development in order to benefit their future academic and career plans and pursuits.

Skills:

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication to work with volunteers, visitors and staff
  • Experience working in a retail environment (gifts, clothing, or similar)
  • Cash handling and point-of-sale familiarity (including OLG)
  • Ability to create marketing materials (posters, digital graphics, shelf signage, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of promotional strategies and customer engagement
  • Creativity in highlighting products and driving traffic to the Gift Shop
  • Time management and ability to juggle multiple tasks
  • Reliability, professionalism, and responsibility
  • Comfortable working both independently and with guidance

Qualifications:

  • Must be between the ages of 15-30
  • Must be on-site for in-person scheduled shifts (occasional evening & weekendsincluded).
  • Previous retail and/or marketing experience is an asset
  • Creative thinking and an eye for merchandising/display is an asset
  • Reliable, professional and comfortable working in a customer facing environment
  • Must successfully complete required screening and JLearn courses
  • Ability to review and comply with relevant JBH policies & procedures (training willbe provided)
