POSITION SUMMARY:

The Priority French TTOC position is a one-year temporary contract that provides the successful applicant with a guarantee of daily work, paid benefits, access to leaves and the ability to apply to any classroom positions that come available through the internal posting process. A priority French TTOC works as a TTOC filling daily dispatch requests created by absent teachers and when needed, fills short-term vacancies. The teacher is prioritized for French vacancies but will also fill English vacancies when needed. This position requires that successful applicants are available daily to fill dispatches at all levels: Elementary, Middle, Secondary in both French and English.

When needed, you will be required to fill UFN positions (medical leaves or unfilled vacancies) and remain in the position until the return of the teacher. Priority will be given for UFNs that require a French speaking teacher. Level specific training and the best fit for short-term vacancies will be considered as part of the assignment process.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Major/minor in French
  • Major practicum work in French immersion
  • Experience teaching French immersion at all levels
  • Ability to demonstrate fluency in written and spoken French, plus a good working knowledge of English
  • Eligible for BC Teacher Certification
  • Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports

  • Facilitation & Engagement: Ability to capture and maintain students’ interest, effort, participation and enthusiasm for both the content and the process of learning
  • Assessment & Coaching: Utilize balanced assessment and feedback to improve student learning including the use of formative and summative assessment strategies.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Collaborate with others to achieve group goals and objectives
  • Caring & Inclusiveness: Create and maintain an environment that is caring, inclusive and supportive of all students
  • Flexibility & Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility in our ability to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances
