We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Procurement Agent to join our growing team in Calgary. Within this position, you will be given the opportunity to work on Alberta’s most interesting projects in recent times.
The mission of the Procurement Agent is to support purchasing activities for the Modern Niagara Alberta field teams to ensure they are carried out efficiently, cost-effectively and within established timelines. The ideal candidate for this role will be a strategic individual with strong relationship-building and negotiation skills.
The Procurement Agent must also live and promote Modern Niagara’s Core Values in all their actions and support the efforts of the entire Modern Niagara team towards the achievement of established goals. As a Top 100 Employer in Canada, the Procurement Agent will have the opportunity to develop professionally and advance his/her career upward within Modern Niagara through a combination of both education and a breadth of experience.
Overview Of Responsibilities
- Source and purchase materials for our field foremen
- Review, maintain, and issue required purchase orders to preferred vendors
- Schedule and expedite material deliveries as required
- Maintain purchase order records in an organized process
- Effective and timely communication of order status, source and lead time to active project teams
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiate pricing, terms and seek new opportunities for added value
- Participate in operational huddles to share known supply chain issues on product availability, price and new opportunities
- Detailed review of vendor invoices against purchase orders placed to ensure accuracy and resolve exceptions through reconciliation
- Review, maintain, and recommend appropriate levels of inventoried materials and consumables
- Execute material return procedures and ensure credits are obtained from suppliers
- Ability to travel between Edmonton and Calgary offices, project sites and supplier locations
Qualifications And Experience
- 3+ years of procurement/wholesale experience, ideally within the Construction and Mechanical industry
- Demonstrated ability to maintain strong relationships with wholesalers, suppliers, and vendors, ensuring top-notch customer service.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems and construction industry experience is preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Effective communicator with the ability to develop and sustain productive working relationships with employees, suppliers and other stakeholders at all levels
- Resourceful, problem-solver able to provide timely solutions
- Highly organized individual, able to maintain multiple responsibilities and prioritize for successful execution.
