Job Description Reporting to the Secretary-Manager, the Head Golf Professional will take personal responsibility for the delivery of a first-class golf experience for all Members, guests, and frequent visiting groups from international clubs while supporting a unified management team.
The Club is undertaking a major restoration of the golf course over the next few years. The focus on the Member experience during this generational renovation will help ensure the future of the Club.
The successful candidate will be a veteran established Golf Professional with extensive experience in the golf industry. He or she will have the ability and a proven track record of recruiting, developing, leading and mentoring Assistant Golf Professionals.
Qualifications Key Responsibilities:
- Member experience and programs
- Leadership and support of the management structure of the Club
- Golf instruction
- Staff management
- Operations and merchandise management
- Golf Shop and retail operation budget management including revenue generation and cost containment to meet the Club goals
To provide a friendly but professional golf environment that is highly focused on providing customer service at all times.
To deliver a high standard of support to golf activities, including helping to organize and to run Club tournaments, Interclub Matches and special events, junior camps and group instruction. Providing expert advice on rules, monitoring the flow of play on the first tee and elsewhere on the course.
To run all golf operations at the Club; carts, bag drop, bag room, range, club repair, and Golf Shop.
Work closely with the leadership team, including the Secretary-Manager and Course Superintendent to provide input and direction on all matters relating to the Members’ golf experience.
Work closely with the Captains and Member Committees on executing the Members’ vision for golf programs, services and tournaments and events.
With the support of the Secretary-Manager, responsible for the recruiting of Assistant Professionals; their oversight as well as Golf Shop and bag room attendants and interns, ensuring the Members consistently receive the standards of conduct, appearance, advice and service they expect.
To develop and oversee teaching programs and to teach personally as well as supervise the teaching practices of the Assistant Pros.
To conduct periodic reviews of personnel, train and coach team, and mentoring for their growth in the golf industry.
To manage, in conjunction with the Club’s administration, the operation of the Golf Shop, including budgeting, forecasting, revenue generation and cost control for golf operations including staffing, retail, merchandising, carts and related services. Preference will be placed on demonstrated success with Golf Shop operations either as a manager or owner.
To be an ambassador for the Club throughout the golf world, and to maintain and build the Club’s relations with other clubs locally, throughout North America, Great Britain, Ireland and other global markets.
Personal Attributes Leader, team builder, coaching and mentoring style, with positive mentality, strong interpersonal skills and French/English proficiency.
Recognized for their high level of golf ability and with a reputation for the highest standards of professionalism.
