About the role
At Momentum, we support Calgarians living with financial barriers to build skills, increase income, manage money, start businesses and move toward greater financial stability. Through practical programs in employment, entrepreneurship and financial empowerment, we help people learn, earn, save and thrive.
At Momentum, we care about how we work together as much as what we do. We are a diverse, multidisciplinary team that values trust, collaboration, curiosity, and accountability. Our culture reflects the confidence we place in one another and the care we bring to our work with participants, partners and community.
Momentum is a certified Great Place to Work and offers competitive compensation and benefits within the non‑profit sector, a hybrid work environment, and a supportive, purpose‑driven workplace.
Momentum is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from people with diverse identities, experiences and perspectives.
What you’ll be doing
As Finance Manager, you will be a collaborative finance partner within Momentum, leading the day‑to‑day finance operations and working closely with the Finance Director. You will supervise a team of three finance staff and be accountable for the accuracy, quality and timeliness of financial information.
This role supports government‑funded programs and community funding, including donors and foundations, and balances strong accounting judgment with curiosity about better ways of working.
Key areas of responsibility
Full‑cycle accounting oversight: Lead Momentum’s accounting operations, including responsibility for key month-end and year-end activities. You work alongside the finance team and ensure appropriate review, documentation, and controls so financial information is accurate and reliable.
Statutory and funder requirements: Ensure Momentum meets statutory and funder‑related financial requirements accurately and on time, including audit and external reporting, and act as the primary point of contact with auditors.
Financial reporting and budgeting: Oversee budgets, forecasts and reporting that support good decisions. Work directly with program managers on budget reviews, support the development of proposal budgets, and track financial performance over time.
Finance systems and improvement: Strengthen finance systems and processes by documenting workflows, improving efficiency and supporting automation and readiness for a future finance system.
Team supervision and development***:***
