Director, Technology Audit Operations, Canada Life

Role Description

Reporting to the Head of Technology Audit, Canada and Capital & Risk Solutions (CRS), you will be part of a group of forward thinking, agile information security auditors, building key security audit practices and capabilities across cyber and information security risk management. Your strong delivery and program management mindset will enable you to drive our strategic priorities to provide valuable insights and help stakeholders make informed decisions on areas of technology risk. This role will also have a technology audit execution mandate and be expected to lead and deliver audit activities when required.

A day in the life of this role:

  • Responsible for the tracking, monitoring, and reporting of Canada/CRS technology audit activities, including annual audit plan delivery progress (including ICOFR), Management open issues & risk exceptions/acceptances, and Canada resource management (allocation, scheduling, monitoring, and utilization)
  • Represent Canada/CRS technology audit in global technology audit resource management, promoting efficient sharing of global resources to maximize utilization
  • Project managing the Technology Audit annual audit planning and quarterly reporting processes, including consolidating and drafting quarterly segment commentary and board material input
  • Actively participate in the Global Technology & Cybersecurity Community of Practice, partnering with global segment technology audit leads to discuss and share technology audit plans, progress, and common themes/insights
  • Lead and execute upon assigned audit activities to assess current state of cyber and information security risk management and controls across relevant systems, data, processes, applications, and technologies in accordance with internal audit’s defined methodology
  • Driving progress against Technology Audit strategic initiatives, (such as enhancement of reporting, streamlining workflows & talent management)
  • Partner with the wider Internal Audit function and Management stakeholders to lead key initiatives to develop and expand Technology Audit AI and data analytics usage and capabilities
  • Partner with Canada Life HR teams to develop and drive the Technology Audit team training, talent pipeline and recruitment strategies
  • Leverage cyber and threat intelligence, monitor and interact with external environment to stay ahead of new threats and challenges and incorporate into continuous risk assessment and drive audit coverage and approach/ programs.

Qualifications and competencies you will bring to this role:

  • Strong project management experience with ability to manage and drive team operations in a matrix environment

  • Proven technology audit experience, including technology audit engagement planning, audit program development, testing, and reporting

  • Strong delivery track record, with proven ownership & capabilities to influence and drive action

  • Executive level interpersonal, communication and team skills; ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff

  • Proven ability to analyze, articulate and communicate complex topics effectively, to make informed decisions about appropriate corrective actions and convince others to act

  • Strong strategic awareness

  • Ability to display pragmatism whilst communicating persuasively at all levels with clarity and precision, both written and verbally

  • You have 7-10 years in a similar role, ideally in financial services

  • University degree, preferably computer science related, or a combination of education and related experience

  • Certified in at least one of the following: CISA, CISM, CISSP, CRISC

  • Understanding of technology risk regulatory, best practices and industry best practice

The base salary for this position is between $92,100 - $170,500 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
