We are currently seeking an 3D Designer to join our team, in our Beamsville, ON office. Remote working options for candidates with extensive experience and qualifications can be negotiated.
THE POSITION
The 3D Designer’s primary responsibility is to provide 3D design capability for substation and manufactured electrical product designs using Autodesk Inventor and Revit. This work will be done conjunction with the electrical and P&C design team for Substation and Industrial plants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop 3D models of high voltage substations, control and switchgear buildings, and manufactured electrical products including layouts, cable/conduit routing and grounding using Autodesk Inventor, Substation Design Suite (SDS) – Physical and Revit.
- Produce detailed bills of material (BOM) based on 3D models.
- Develop internal library of substation design components.
- Participates in the development of design procedures and standards.
- Perform substation and plant lightning, lighting and Bus design calculations/analysis based on 3D models.
- Ability to work with raw 3D scan data.
CANDIDATE PROFILE:
- Preferably 4+ years work experience in 3D design. Junior candidates are encouraged to apply as training will be provided.
- Associate or full certified member of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (CET) in Electrical, Mechanical or Construction discipline is preferred but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with Electrical, Mechanical or Civil aspects of substation design would be an advantage.
- The ability to complete assignments independently and with minimal supervision.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
