Your Impact:

Reporting directly to the Red Chris Mine Director of Environment, the Environment Lead will execute environmnetal management plans to support regulatory, voluntary, and additional internal commitments and targets.

In this role, the individual will:
  • Lead and supervise Red Chris Mine Environmental team in conducting work required to achieve mine compliance with authorizations and other regulatory requirements, voluntary commitments and internal standards.
  • Monitor environmental conditions at the site level and distribute performance, events, non-compliances internally and externally, regulatory and other partners
  • Direct and monitor the implementation of the Environmental Management System and its component Environmental Management Plans, and other environmental requirements as directed.
  • Execute environmental priorities for the site and provide direction to the team.
  • Direct and/or conduct required follow-up to ensure the implementation of remedial measures as required to address environmental non-compliances or non-conformances.
  • Supervise and/or conduct environmental audits and compliance monitoring of mine infrastructure and systems.
  • Prepare and/or supervise the preparation of regulatory data and report submissions.
  • Provide appropriate technical support to environmental challenges and standards.
  • Investigate environmental incidents, prepare required documentation, and make recommendations to ensure appropriate preventative and corrective action.
  • Under the direction of the Environmental Director review technical documents to ensure completeness and conformance to regulatory requirements.
  • Lead regulatory inspections and government agency visits.
  • Manage incident reporting in systems (e.g., CHESS).
  • Emphasize safety and production targets alongside environmental compliance.
  • Engage with First Nations and Government bodies and partners.

Prerequisites for your success in this role:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or related discipline (preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in environmental management within mining, heavy industry, or major infrastructure projects.
  • Advanced certifications in environmental management, auditing, or regulatory compliance (preferred).
  • Proven leadership experience, including coaching, team development, and stakeholder engagement.
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation, permitting, compliance frameworks, and risk control measures.
  • Experience with social/cultural heritage risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work in cross-functional teams.
  • Subject matter expertise in environmental management, regulatory compliance, and performance monitoring.
  • Proficiency in the practical application of environmental regulations, monitoring tools, and the reporting processes that best support these activities within the department.
  • Strong familiarity with risk control measures and KPI alignment, including the ability to carry out specific activities using appropriate tools and processes to achieve defined business outcomes.
Your Work Environment:
  • Your work will be based from the Red Chris Mine operation, in Northern British Columbia, working closely with site teams and senior Sustainability leaders. The role involves both office-based work and time in the field to monitor performance, lead audits, and address environmental challenges.
  • Red Chris Mine is a remote Fly-in Fly-out worksite and this position is offered with a two-weeks-on, two-weeks-off roating schedule. Charter travel are facilitated from designated marshalling points in BC and Alberta, to take team members to the site.
  • We are committed to ensuring that our team members are kept healthy and safe. To achieve this, we provide comfortable on-site accommodations, including excellent meals prepared by our Lodge team. Team members can expect access to TV/Wi-Fi, on-site gym, and a variety of recreational activities.

The expected salary range for this role is CA$126,200 - $168,300/yr with additional perks and 25% Short term and 15% Long term incentive target. This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.
