Role Description This full-time on-site role, based in Edmonton, AB, combines journeyman electrician responsibilities with fire alarm technician duties. Day-to-day tasks include installing, wiring, and terminating electrical and fire alarm systems, as well as performing inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance on panels, devices, and related equipment. The role involves diagnosing electrical and fire alarm issues, completing repairs, and ensuring systems meet applicable codes and standards. The technician will interpret drawings and schematics, document work performed, and collaborate with project managers, other trades, and clients to deliver safe, reliable solutions. Adherence to safety procedures, proper use of tools and test instruments, and timely completion of service calls and projects are essential.

Qualifications

Strong foundational knowledge of electricity and electrical principles relevant to building systems and fire alarm installations. Demonstrated skills in electrical work, including installation, wiring, panel work, and safe use of tools and test equipment. Experience with maintenance & repair of electrical and fire alarm systems, including scheduled inspections and corrective work. Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical faults and fire alarm system issues, with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions. Understanding of basic electrical engineering concepts related to system design, load calculations, and code compliance. Valid Journeyman Electrician certification or equivalent trade qualification, and relevant fire alarm technician training or manufacturer certifications. Knowledge of applicable electrical and fire codes, standards, and best practices, along with a strong safety mindset. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals, and to complete clear service reports and documentation. Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in coordination with a field team and site supervisors. Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to client sites within the Edmonton area as required.

Wages- $35-$45
