Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Electrical Field Engineer works closely with the Site Manager and Site Coordinator. The incumbent serves as a subject matter expert in their field and is responsible for overseeing the installation of certain phases of solar and/or wind energy projects on site. They also ensure the implementation of technical procedures on the project site and act as the electrical expert for all related matters.
Under the supervision of the Project Manager, prepare contracts required for the execution and control of work performed by subcontractors suppliers, and consultants within the assigned scope; Assist the Superintendent in coordinating engineering activities; Coordinate construction activities in collaboration with the Superintendent, environmental team, engineer, subcontractors, municipal and regional representatives, and the client’s representative; Coordinate construction compliance inspections; Ensure the implementation of technical procedures on site in collaboration with the Project Engineer; Monitor the procurement, receipt, and inventory of materials required for project execution; Actively participate in the implementation of the prevention program and support the Site Health and Safety Advisor; Develop and implement the Quality Control Program for the electrical phase of the project; Perform independent inspections in accordance with execution procedures and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs); Ensure that subcontractors’ quality inspection personnel fulfill their responsibilities and complete all required inspections; Ensure that all materials used in the supervised work are deemed compliant by an independent laboratory or by subcontractors’ quality inspectors; Compile and analyze data and statistics related to completed work; Identify issues and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented and tracked; In collaboration with the Superintendent, prepare periodic progress reports and project closeout documentation based on the advancement of the work.
This role could be for you if you have
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; 3 to 8 years of experience in similar roles, preferably with a specialization in power systems; Experience with electrical substations or collector systems is considered an asset; Experience working with high-voltage systems is considered an asset; Advanced English proficiency, both spoken and written, required to interact daily with subcontractors, suppliers, clients, partners, and colleagues located outside Quebec. The role involves participating in coordination and project management meetings with national teams, providing progress updates, preparing reports for English-speaking stakeholders, and reading and understanding technical documentation available only in English; Strong administrative skills, geographic mobility, and willingness to work away from home for extended periods; Self-motivated, with strong leadership and teamwork abilities; Excellent team management and conflict-resolution skills; Ability to adapt to fast-paced, high-pressure environments and changing weather conditions on construction sites; Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Project, Excel, and other project management tools; Valid driver’s license.
