#Undergraduate Programs Advisor, Edwards School of Business

**Primary Purpose:**The Undergraduate Programs Advisor plays a critical role in the drive to improve academic success, recruitment, retention/persistence rates, graduation rates, and overall quality of the student experience for students in the Edwards School of Business. In pursuit of these aims, the Undergraduate Programs Advisor will provide academic advising, coaching, mentoring, and administrative support for current and prospective students in the College. The person in this position will implement, uphold, and maintain College policies, procedures, and protocols relating to all students and Edwards School of Business in general.

**Nature of Work:**Reporting to the Manager, Student Services, this is one of four positions offering student advising and support for current, prospective undergraduate and certificate students. This position functions independently and efficiently in a high-volume, multi-tasking environment. The position requires interactions with the Edwards School of Business Deans, Department Heads, faculty, staff and other administrative personnel on the University of Saskatchewan campus. Non-standard hours and evening work required during peak times.

Typical Duties/Accountabilities:

  • Provide academic advising including interpretation, maintenance, and communication of program requirements, academic regulations, graduation standards, and academic policies
  • Support student registration processes, including class permissions and overrides, degree audits, and elective selection guidance
  • Lead recruitment, retention, and administration for Edwards Undergraduate Certificate programs (Certificate in Business, Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Certificate in Accounting for Decision Making)
  • Act as staff liaison with the Edwards Business Students’ Society (EBSS) and other student groups as required
  • Assist with planning and delivery of internal (USask) and external recruitment and engagement events in collaboration with advising colleagues (e.g., Edwards Student Group Expo, Edwards Graduation, Tuition Town Hall, U-Start, Open House, Orientation, Indigenous Graduation)
  • Coordinate distance examination scheduling and exam distribution for all web and blended Edwards courses
  • Administer the Dean’s Honour Roll process
  • Support the Edwards tutoring program, including tutor recruitment and publication of tutor lists
  • Manage the Edwards WhatsApp student inquiry channel
  • Coordinate booking and management of the Edwards backdrop banner

Provide ongoing support to fellow academic advisors and the Manager, Student Services, and perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

**Education:**A four-year undergraduate degree is required. A Bachelor of Commerce is considered an asset.

**Experience:**A minimum of three years of university level experience working with undergraduate students and in the educational field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience presenting to groups of all sizes
  • High level of comfort presenting to large audiences and use of technology platforms such as (i.e. Zoom, Instagram, etc.)
  • Ability to navigate difficult conversations while maintaining professionalism and composure
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Contributes to a positive, diverse, and inclusive work and learning environment by actively engaging in mentoring, self-awareness learning opportunities, relationship building, and communication, etc.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Windows application software (Microsoft Office)
  • Experience with Banner/SiRIUS desired
  • Knowledge of the Bachelor of Commerce program desired
