##Position Summary

The Assistant Golf Professional supports the daily operations of the Deerhurst Resort golf operation, including theDeerhurst HighlandsandDeerhurst Lakesidegolf courses. Reporting directly to the Golf Operations Manager, the Assistant Golf Professional assists with delivering a high standard of service to resort guests, members, and tournament participants while supporting all facets of golf operations.

This role contributes to the execution of daily play, tournament operations, instructional programming, retail management, and supervision of outside golf services staff. The Assistant Golf Professional plays an important role in maintaining operational efficiency and ensuring a consistent guest experience aligned with Deerhurst Resort standards.

##Key Responsibilities

###Golf Operations

• Assist in the coordination and execution of daily golf operations for both resort courses.
• Support tee sheet management and assist with pace-of-play initiatives.
• Assist with the planning and execution of resort tournaments, corporate events, and group outings.
• Provide operational support during high-volume play periods.

###Guest Service

• Deliver a high level of service to guests and members consistent with Deerhurst Resort standards.
• Respond to guest inquiries and resolve concerns in a professional and timely manner.
• Support a welcoming and organized golf shop and clubhouse environment.

###Staff Supervision

• Provide day-to-day oversight of the Outside Golf Services team.
• Assist with training, performance guidance, and operational coordination of outside staff.
• Support scheduling and daily staff deployment as required.

###Instruction & Programming

• Assist in the resort’s instructional programming, including:

  • Private lessons (outside of scheduled hours)
  • Group clinics
  • Junior camps and player development initiatives

• Work in conjunction with Golf Operations Manager and Marketing to promote and grow instructional offerings where appropriate.

###Golf Shop Operations

• Assist with merchandising, inventory control, and retail presentation.
• Accurately process retail transactions using POS systems.
• Support inventory management and ordering processes as required.

###Program Leadership Opportunities

Depending on experience and operational needs, the Assistant Golf Professional may assume responsibility for specific operational areas, including:

• Weekly leagues
• Corporate events and tournaments
• Junior golf programming
• Retail inventory management
• Instructional programming

##Qualifications

-PGA of Canada Member in Good Standing

• Strong interpersonal and guest service skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative
• Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency with POS systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Golf Genius
• Previous teaching experience considered an asset
• Previous experience leading a team of individuals, preferably in the golf setting an asset
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays during the golf season
