Title: Nurse Coordinator, Communicable Disease Control
Salary: $102,490 - $125,736 per year (pay range explained below)
Contract: Term until March 19, 2027(Full – Time)
Hours: 8:00 am- 4:00 pm Mon- Fri (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)
Location: Sinclaire office, Metro Vancouver -On the ancestral Coast Salish Territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. (Hybrid working is an option in line with FNHA’s flex work policy)
Bargaining Unit: PIPSC BCFNHA Group (Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada)
About The Role As the Nurse Coordinator, Communicable Disease Control (CDC), you will plan, coordinate, and evaluate clinical public health services in Communicable Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) programs and initiatives for First Nations communities. You will provide expertise and advice in the coordination and design of FNHA CDC programs and activities. You will also participate with other CDC Coordinators in planning, implementing, coordinating, and conducting orientation and in-service development of FNHA and First Nations Community Health Nurses (CHN). Also, you will identify and address training needs for CHNs with a focus on CDC management and Immunizations. You will liaise with BCCDC and Regional Health Authority’s for collaboration and community support for CD outbreak management in First Nation communities. FNHA is seeking a nurse who is a leader and passionate about public health and has advanced understanding and experience in both CDC management and Immunizations and working in partnership with First Nations communities.
This role will specifically support the advancement of Communicable Disease management grounded in cultural safety, community strengths, and indigenous wellness. About You Education
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a recognized university or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Occupational Certification
- Current practicing registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in public health nursing or communicable disease control.
Knowledge And Abilities
- Knowledge of, and ability to apply, an understanding of First Nations cultural principles and protocols in work situations.
- Knowledge of the planning, coordination, and delivery of public health programs with particular strengths in communicable disease control and prevention.
- Knowledge and skills in one or more focus area within communicable disease prevention programs, such as STI/BBP/Harm Reduction, TB or Immunization.
- Knowledge of a variety of computer applications and data management skills.
