Title: Snack Cart Helper

Program: Pathways to Education, Integrated Youth Services

Location: 1365 Richmond Rd, Ottawa ON K2b 6R7

Reports to: Supervisor, Youth Programs

Term: School year 2025-2026 (September 2025- June 2026)

Hours: 3- 6 hours/week, 1- 2 evenings (flexible)

  • Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Volunteers

At PQCHC, volunteers and staff are considered partners and work in collaboration to uphold the Centre’s principles, values, and mission. They contribute unique knowledge; experiences and skills that help PQCHC to better connect with Ottawa’s west end community, reflect its diversity and serve its specific needs.

Volunteer recruitment is a continuous process at PQ. We thank you for the amazing engagement we receive in all volunteer applications. Pathways to Education

Pathways to Education is a program offered by Pinecrest-Queensway Community Health Centre. It is a national program which supports young people living in low-income communities to complete high school and move on to post-secondary education or into the workforce. The program provides academic, social, financial, and one-on-one support.

Volunteer Summary

The Snack Cart Helper helps make tutoring sessions welcoming and fun by preparing and distributing snacks to students, checking in with participants, and keeping the snack area clean and organized.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and restock the snack cart before tutoring starts
  • Offer snacks and drinks to students and volunteers during tutoring
  • Keep track of supplies and let staff know when items are running low
  • Help with cleanup and storage at the end of the session
  • Create a friendly, positive atmosphere for everyone in the space

Qualifications

  • 16 years of age or older
  • English essential, other languages an asset

All volunteers must go through screening, onboarding, and training through Human Resources (HR). A Police Record check (level 1) is required for volunteers ages 18 +. HR will provide a letter to support your request for a check.

Our Beginning:

Founded by community members in 1979, we are one of about 60 non-profit community health centers across Ontario. We are run by a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of 12 community members elected at our annual meeting.

Growing With Our Community:

In 1979 we opened our doors with 4 staff. Today, we have over 347 full and part time employees serving our local community and over 400 volunteers.
