Position Summary Genetic Counsellor, Clinical Genetics Your goal in this position is to perform independently or as a team member with a high degree of motivation, critical thinking and judgement. As a Genetics Counsellor you provide genetic services to a diverse multicultural population; this includes prenatal and adult genetics. You are computer proficient, have superior communication and interpersonal skills, and display a high degree of professionalism. You demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure and maintain high level of productivity and competence. This position supports the hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, leaners, volunteers and families.
On a practical level, you will
- Demonstrate genetic assessment, case management and counselling skills.
- Provide genetic counselling for a variety of indications
- Participate in teaching and supervising trainees/students
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Genetic Counselling
- Certification or eligible for certification in Genetics (e.g., Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors, American Board of Genetic Counseling)
- Experience working in a similar position, minimum of 2 years’ experience is preferred
- Competencies in other languages considered an asset
- Bilingualism in French/English an asset

This is a Full Time Temporary position (1 year contract) with 8 hours shifts, Days, in Clinical Genetics at our outpatient & community services site, located at 2 Champagne Drive .
