Reporting to the Senior Procurement Specialist, the Category Specialist – Equipment Procurement is responsible for developing, deploying, and executing innovative, high‑performance sourcing strategies focused on value creation for the equipment categories under their responsibility.
The incumbent serves as a pan‑Canadian subject matter reference for their assigned categories. The role is focused on volume consolidation, the development of sustainable strategic partnerships, continuous improvement of the supplier portfolio, and the achievement of measurable objectives related to cost reduction, product range optimization, service improvement, proactive risk management, and operational efficiency. This position operates within a matrix environment and works in close collaboration with the Fleet group, Operations, and Preconstruction teams
What you will do

Develop, renew, and implement sustainable master agreements with strategic partners related to the equipment categories under their responsibility, including supplier development and ongoing performance evaluation.

Own the end‑to‑end sourcing process for equipment and/or services, including needs analysis, competitive bidding processes, comprehensive financial analyses (including financing options), technical comparisons, recommendations, and negotiations.

Define, monitor, and achieve financial objectives; manage category budgets; and develop relevant key performance indicators (KPIs).

Ensure product and equipment standardization across Canada, in collaboration with the Fleet group, and provide required information to administrative support for asset creation and management within ERP systems.

Act as a subject matter expert for assigned categories, supporting internal teams through technical expertise, influence, and matrix alignment.

Conduct ongoing market, technological, and strategic intelligence on industry trends, emerging technologies, product evolution, and supplier landscapes across operating provinces.

Optimize product ranges based on operational needs, equipment performance, available innovations, and total cost of ownership objectives.

Work closely with the Fleet group, Preconstruction, and field operations to align sourcing strategies with operational requirements, equipment fleet plans, and site realities.

Proactively share relevant information with stakeholders, including innovations, trends, product changes, risks, and opportunities, to enhance planning and decision‑making.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of procurement processes, risk management, and operational optimization
This role could be for you if you have

A relevant college diploma in supply chain management or a related field.

Over 10 years of experience in procurement and supply management.

Relevant experience in the construction industry.

Strong ability to analyze data from ERP systems.
-
Excellent communication, influencing, and presentation skills.
-
A high level of autonomy, sound judgment, and the ability to manage priorities and urgent situations.
-
Proven ability to work in a matrix environment and deliver both regional and corporate results.

Availability to travel as required across Canada.
